Facility Manager
On-site, Basel Area | Full-time | Permanent contract

Our client is a scientific organisation operating within a highly regulated laboratory environment. They are looking for a Facility Manager to oversee facility operations, infrastructure, technical services, and vendor management, ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of laboratory and office facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day management of facility operations, infrastructure, and support systems
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, repairs, and facility improvement projects
  • Manage HVAC systems, utilities, and environmental monitoring systems
  • Ensure facility resources, equipment, and infrastructure remain operational and fit for purpose
  • Provide technical support for laboratory related facility matters
  • Coordinate external service providers, maintenance contractors, and calibration partners
  • Maintain equipment inventories and support asset lifecycle management
  • Manage waste disposal activities, including hazardous and contaminated materials
  • Lead purchasing activities, supplier management, quotation requests, and price negotiations
  • Review and allocate incoming invoices prior to finance approval
  • Administer purchasing, inventory management, and laboratory management software systems
  • Oversee company vehicle fleet management
  • Support compliance activities within a regulated laboratory environment

Requirements

  • Apprenticeship, technical qualification, or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in facility management, maintenance, technical operations, or a similar role
  • Experience managing external contractors and service providers
  • Strong organisational, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with ERP systems and MS Office applications
  • Experience within laboratory, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated environments is advantageous
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Valid driving licence required
