Medical Science Liaison – Rare Disease

Description
For an established and innovative biopharmaceutical company, we are searching for a field-based medical affairs professional who builds and develops strong scientific partnerships with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals in Germany. The focus is to support pre-launch and launch activities by driving high-quality medical and scientific exchange in rare and genetic diseases. In addition to educating stakeholders and advancing disease understanding, one is responsible for strengthening diagnosis pathways and supporting medical initiatives that enable successful product introduction.
Responsibilities
- Identify and engage relevant HCPs and KOLs, mapping the treatment landscape, patient journey, and centers of excellence
- Execute pre-launch and launch medical activities, including disease state education
- Deliver structured scientific exchange in line with the Medical Affairs brand plan
- Support and deliver medical research initiatives to generate locally relevant data
- Design and conduct medical education and insight-generation activities such as advisory boards, congress symposia, and hospital-based meetings
- Maintain up-to-date scientific expertise through literature review, congress participation, and internal training
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree required (MSc); PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred
- Minimum 5–7 years of field-based Medical Affairs experience, ideally in rare or orphan diseases
- Experience working in a pre-launch or launch environment within biotech or pharmaceuticals
- Strong ability to build and sustain relationships with KOLs and engage in high-level scientific dialogue
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills in German and English
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced build-out environment
